About
I make films about people, places and the experiences that connect them.
I’m Hemanta Tamang, a filmmaker and editor based in Nepal. I direct and shape films from the first idea through production and post — working across documentary, adventure and brand films.
Much of my work has taken me into the Himalaya, where I’ve worked with climbers, guides, expedition teams and people with stories worth telling. I’m interested in real experiences, honest storytelling and films that leave room for people to be themselves.
My independent work lives under 1Scape Films.

How I work
01
Find the story
Every film starts with something worth saying. I spend time understanding the people, the place and what is actually happening before deciding how the story should be told.
02
Direct & produce
I develop the creative approach and direct the film through production — working with people, locations, performances and moments as they unfold.
03
Shape the film
I bring everything together in the edit, finding the rhythm, structure and emotion that make the story work.
04
Finish with intention
From sound and music to colour, graphics and final delivery, I care about the details without letting them get in the way of the story.
What I make
Documentary
Real people, real experiences and stories that don’t need to be exaggerated to be compelling.
Adventure
Stories shaped by mountains, trails, expeditions and the people who choose to go further.
Brand films
Films for brands and people with something meaningful behind what they do.

Beyond the frame
I’m drawn to places that take you out of your comfort zone — mountains, unfamiliar roads, long journeys and the people you meet along the way.
Filmmaking became a way for me to experience those places while paying attention to the people inside them.
I’m still figuring out where that takes me.
